MEDITATION: Reading from the Prophetic Books should help us understand the LORD better. We do frequently read for personal solutions. However, do not forget to read His Word to understand His pain and disappointment when His people sin.

Daniel, too, "Perceived in the books the number of years that, according to the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass before the end of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years" (Dan 9:2).

This led him to mourn, pray and seek for mercy (Dan 9:3). It involved "confession" (Dan 9:4), remembering God's love and the promises that were made with Him (Dan 9:4) and describing sin as it is: "We have sinned ... done wrong ... acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules" (Dan 9:5).

REFLECTION: Do our bible readings lead us to see our own treachery before the LORD clearly (Dan 9:7), and respond by praying and confessing? (Dan 9:20)

The mention of numbers (Dan 9:2,24) and the word "decreed" (Dan 9:24,26,27) remind us that troubled times (Dan 9:25) have limits, but God still reigns even when the situations don't improve. Daniel died in exile, worshiping the LORD till the end. Therefore, do not lose hope today.

默想：但以理7-9章的异象，在神的子民面对逼迫时，给予他们安慰和坚持下去的力量。他们深知，耶和华神最终必会得胜。

但8:1-14写到“外貌像人的”加百列受吩咐(但8:15)，要让但以理明白异象的意义(但8:20-26)。里面提到有关玛代、波斯和希腊(但8:20-21)的事，提醒我们尽管即将临到但以理的世代和末世的事情是很严重的，耶和华仍然掌管着一切。

即使是“面貌凶恶的王”会“运用诡计，行骗无往而不利”(但8:23.25)，“最后却非因人的手被毁灭”(但8:25)。那“万君之君”(但8:25)最终会得胜。

应用：当处境不顺时，或者未来不明确和让人不解时，继续信靠神并活出生命、活出精彩。就如但以理一样,尽管他“对异象惊骇不已”，他仍“办理王的事务”(但8:27)，不要因别人和神对立而停滞在那里无法前进。
