Week 13: 22/03/2023. Wed

Zechariah 5:4 I will send it out, declares the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter the house of the thief, and the house of him who swears falsely by my name. And it shall remain in his house and consume it, both timber and stones.” (ESV)

The flying scroll looked like the flag flown under a helicopter on national day. It was a "scroll" precisely for the purpose of reminding those recovering from discipline that their future behaviour should still be governed by their written conditions with God. It was "flying" as it would come to pass quickly and would traverse much time across history and many cultures without hindrance or obstacles.

There are no zero-obligation covenant relationships, at least not with the LORD. Zechariah's audience was referred back to their relationship with the LORD according their terms stated in Deuteronomy, e.g., Deut 29:12, 19-20. The high priest was reminded to obey Moses' Law (Zech 3:7).

There will be thorough removal of sin to come (Zech 5:5-11), yet there must be proper behaviour and the practice of social justice in the community (See coming verses 7:9-10, 8:16-17) accompanying this blessedness.

Do set aside time to instruction ourselves and those under our care in the Word of God. This would reap maximum benefits from the promises of God, which He promised to Abraham, Moses, David and the others who walked the Path before us.
