Guaranteed Protection (Zechariah 2:1—6)
Week 12: 14/03/2023. Tue

Zechariah 2:5–6 And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory in her midst.’” [6] Up! Up! Flee from the land of the north, declares the LORD. For I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, declares the LORD. (ESV)

The third vision was about a man (or an angel) holding a measuring line. While the line was associated with judgment in the past,  this line was now associated with blessings.

Whereas in the judgment of Jerusalem, the city was emptied of her inhabitants and the people exiled. Now many would return (flee) to Jerusalm (2:6), so much so that the city would be without walls because of the numerous people and livestocks that would inhabit it.

It was now a reversal. Jerusalem would be blessed. With the LORD as "a wall of fire all around", the city would be protected also. The LORD's presence is glorious, without the need for bells and whistles, nor other trappings of the modern world.

Believers today need not be mired in emotions of rubble heaps, despair, disrepair nor fight loneliness alone. The LORD is a fire. He would protect His faithful remnants forever from fatal attackers. He is creative and resourceful enough to do that. Trust God. Our perception and how we perceive Him during our worship or prayers must change in view of Zechariah's messages.
