Don’t resist the wheel. Lean in. Let the Master Potter do His work.

📖 Devotion: "Shaped by the Potter"
Scripture: “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.” — Jeremiah 18:6 (ESV)

🔍 Reflection
In Jeremiah 18, God instructs the prophet to go down to the potter’s house. There, Jeremiah sees a potter working at the wheel. When the pot he is shaping becomes marred, the potter doesn’t discard it. Instead, he reshapes it into another vessel, as it seems good to him.

God uses this image to speak to His people. He says, “Can I not do with you as this potter does?” This is a message of both warning and hope.

🛠️ 1. God Is Sovereign Over Our Lives
The potter has complete control over the clay. In the same way, God has authority over us. This is not a threat, but a comfort. The One shaping us is not careless or cruel — He is loving, wise, and intentional.

🧎‍♂️ Are we yielding to His hands, or are we resisting His shaping work?

💔 2. Brokenness Doesn’t Mean Abandonment
The clay in the potter’s hands was marred — flawed, imperfect. But the potter didn’t throw it away. He reworked it.

That’s the grace of God: Even when we mess up, He doesn’t discard us. He reshapes us. He disciplines those He loves — not to punish us, but to redeem and restore.

🙌 Praise God that failure isn’t final when you’re in His hands.

🔄 3. We Must Respond to God’s Molding

Jeremiah 18 is also a warning: if we harden our hearts or resist His correction, we may miss out on what He desires to do in us and through us. But if we repent, if we listen, He is always willing to shape us anew.

🛐 Let this be a call to surrender. Let God mold your life, your character, your future.

🙏 Prayer
Lord, You are the Potter, and I am the clay. Forgive me for the times I’ve resisted Your hands or questioned Your plan. Shape me into a vessel that brings You glory. Even in my brokenness, I trust that You are making something beautiful. Teach me to yield, to listen, and to trust Your work in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.

📣 Challenge
This week, ask: Where in my life is God shaping me right now?
(1) Is it through a trial?

(2) A conviction of sin?

(3) A calling I’m afraid to obey?
