Authenticity requires us to concede that suffering affliction is inevitable. It cannot be totally eliminated in the present life. As a follower of the LORD, however, Paul says that affliction "has come to pass, and just as you know" (1Thes 3:4). This brings out this reality.

Nevertheless, the LORD's will is to use this affliction to bring out the authenticity and hope we have in Jesus Christ.

This comes about when the Thessalonians exercised their "faith and love" (1Thes 3:6). Wonderfully, this faith comforted Paul and his co-workers "in all our distress and affliction" (1Thes 3:7).

Prayer: May the LORD make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all (1Thes 3:12).

Our example of faith and love would have profound effects on our spouse, children, care group and others. Do stand firm in faith and love in spite of challenges. It's not only about you, but all others, and the name of the LORD whom we've committed our lives to.

一个真实的基督徒，不得不承认，要做耶稣的跟随者，在生命中遭受患难是免不了的。患难“后来应验了，这是你们知道的”(帖前3:4)，这就带出了真实。

然而，主的旨意是借着这患难带出我们在耶稣基督里的真实和希望。

当帖撒罗尼迦人行出了“信心和爱心”(帖前3:6)就表现出来了。美妙的是，这样的信心带给了保罗和他的同工在“困苦患难中”的安慰(帖前3:7)。

祷告：愿主叫你们彼此相爱的心，和爱众人的心，都充充足足，多而又多(帖前3:12)。

我们的信心和爱心将会深深地影响着我们的配偶、孩子、小组和其他人。无论挑战如何，要在信心和爱心上站立得稳。这不仅与你有关，也与所有人有关，与我们所献出生命的主的名有关。
