Author of the Gospel of John most probably had access to Matthew, Mark and Luke. These three books (the synoptic gospels) do emphasise the kingdom of God. The Gospel of John, however, pays great attention to The King himself. John introduces much new materials without repeating the Synoptic Gospels.
John 1 portrays that Jesus IS the God who co-exists with the Creator of Genesis 1. Jesus does the same work as the God of Genesis chapter 1 (John 1:3).
We rejoice, because the LORD, who revealed Himself to Moses and the exodus event (Luke 25:17), now revealed Himself in the person of Jesus Christ (John 1:18). Jesus is "life" and give "light" to mankind (John 1:4). In fact, the LORD dwelt among His people through Jesus Christ (John 1:14).
Nevertheless, we are saddened because of the rejection Jesus Christ faced in spite of His credentials, purpose and great plans for mankind. Even though "all things were made through him" (John 1:3), "yet the world did not know him" (John 1:10). What's worse, "His own people did not receive him" (John 1:11).
"The angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man" in John 1:51 connects with Gen 28:12, where the promises of blessings for all peoples on earth were given to Jacob (Gen 28:14). All peoples now, will be blessed through Jesus—"In him was life" (John 1:4).
APPLICATION: This opportunity to be blessed in Jesus Christ is now given to all (John 1:7,12). Grab it today and rejoice now and in eternity!

然而，耶稣基督尽管有着地位、崇高的理想和对人类有着伟大的计划，却遭到拒绝，我们都为此感到悲哀。虽然“万有是借着他造的”(约1:3)，“世界却不认识祂”(约1:10)。更糟的是，“自己的人却不接受他”(约1:11)。
在约翰福音1:51,“神的众使者在人子的身上，上去下来”,这节经文与创世记28:12是相连的，神应许会赐福雅各在地上的所有后裔(创28:14)。现在万民都因着耶稣而得福——“在他里面有生命”(约1:4)。
