For the demon-possessed man, his Saviour came to meet him "across the lake" (Mark 5:1). Jesus drove out the unclean spirits from him (Mark 5:13). Surprisingly, there were two responses' to Jesus' ministry here:

Firstly, a response that was similar to the man's, "And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled" (Mar 5:20).

Secondly, a response that was similar to the herdsmen's and that of "the people" (Mark 5:14-17), "And they began to beg Jesus to depart from their region" (Mark 5:17).

REFLECTION (1): What is your response to Jesus after seeing His works? Embrace His POWER and PURIFYING renovation in our lives? Or would you PUSH Him away, because He did not PROP up your PRODUCTIVITY in farming, business or other economic interests?

In Gerasenes (Mark 5:1), this economic agenda overrides the revelation that Jesus is "the Son of the Most High God" (Mark 5:7). The HEALING and RESTORATION of the demon-possessed man did not seem to influence their mindsets at all!

Instead, the phrase "Son of God" is uttered by the demon-possessed man who fell down before Jesus (Mark 5:6)! What sarcasm! In contrast, those tending pigs and the people who had EXPERIENCED the power of the "Son of God" and "Son of Man" in their midst ASKED Jesus to leave!

Here is the narrative sequence of Mark 5 on this topic:

The demon-possessed man "fell down before him" (Mark 5:6);

The synagogue ruler, Jairus, "fell at his feet" also (Mark 5:22) to plead with Jesus for his daughter;

The woman who was bleeding for 12 years (Mark 5:25) also "fell down before him" (Mark 5:33).

REFLECTION (2): What are you doing today that demonstrates falling down at Jesus' feet? Or are you commanding Him instead like your servant in your prayers to do this or that solely to your whims and fancies?

http://m.bbintl.org/bible/ncv/Mak/5/

那被邪灵附体的人“跑过去拜他”(可5:6);

那会堂的主管叶鲁也“俯伏在他脚前”(可5:22)求耶稣救他的女儿;
