Jesus wanted more than the Twelve Disciples to proclaim His kingdom to the world. Slowly but surely, He involved more people.
The life of a disciple required a FRUGAL lifestyle. Jesus commanded a frugal lifestyle for the 72 persons as for The Twelve, "Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals" (Luke 10:4) but be contented with whatever hospitality they received (Luke 10:5-7).
The life of a disciple required UNDIVIDED and UNDISTRACTED focus on the LORD's task. "Greet no one on the road" (Luke 10:4) seemed unfriendly at first glance. However, the specific task of these 72 persons was to go "ahead of him" (Luke 10:1), to "every town and place where he himself was about to go" (Luke 10:1). These greetings on the way there were likely to bog them down and delay the task given to them.
The life of a disciple takes rejection in its stride (Luke 10:13-16). Receiving a rejection is painful. Take comfort that "the one who rejects you rejects me" and the Father in heaven (Luke 10:16). Rejoice that the Father's will is done (Luke 10:21-24). AVOID knowing the Father's will yet continuously find ways to go around it and disobeying it (Luke 10:25-37). Instead, "You go, and do likewise" (Luke 10:37).
In his life, a disciple is frequently required to make difficult choices, with the inevitable costs incurred (Luke 10:38-42). Many tasks in front of us can be considered as good or beautiful. But "one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion" (Luke 10:42). Have you?

耶稣希望十二个门徒以外的人也能向世界传扬福音。过程虽缓慢，但最终祂还是让许多人参与了这项工作。
门徒必须过着俭朴的生活。耶稣吩咐那72个人要过着像十二个门徒一样的俭朴生活，“不要带钱囊，不要带口袋，不要带鞋”(路10:4)但无论去到哪一家，得到什么样的待遇都应当满足(路10:5-7)。
门徒的生命需要专心致志地专注在主的工作上。“不要在路上问候人”(路10:4)乍看之下似乎很不友善。然而，这七十二个人的指定任务是“在他前面”(路10:1),“到他自己将要到的各城各地去”(路10:1)。这一路上的问候将会拖累他们并延误他们任务的完成。
门徒必须学会承受得起拒绝(路10:13-16)。受到拒绝是痛苦的。但安慰的是“弃绝你们的，就是弃绝我”和弃绝在天上的父(路10：16)。当欢喜因为父的旨意已成就(路10:21-24)。避免知道了父的旨意却不断地想方设法不去顺服(路10:25-37)。相反的，“你去，照样作吧”(路10:37)。
在门徒的生命中，时常会面临艰难的抉择，也难免要付出很大的代价(路10:38-42)。在我们的面前有许多的事可以是很好的或很美的。但是“最需要的只有一件，马利亚已经选择了那上好的分。”(路10:42)你呢？
