MEDITATION: The vessels of gold and silver (Dan 5:2) belonged to the resident of the temple in Jerusalem, the house of the LORD, for use in service of Him. Contempt was shown against the LORD when these vessels were used by King Belshazzar for partying among his lords, wives and concubines (Dan 5:3-4).

Belshazzar knew better than to repeat the sins of his father Nebuchadnezzar whose "heart was lifted up" (Dan 5:20;22-23).

Therefore, the response of the LORD was swift (Dan 5:5) and the consequence was deadly "that very night," for both Belshazzar and his kingdom (Dan 5:30).

REFLECTION: Do we abuse things that are set apart in the house of God for ministry and service of God and used them for personal gains or agenda instead? Are we more interested in doing right (like Daniel), or greedy for financial gain (Dan 5:17)?

APPLICATION: Respect the kingship of the LORD and do not abuse His ministry vessels. Remember, He is capable of responding swiftly too today.

默想：那金银器皿(但5:2)是属于耶路撒冷的圣殿的居民的，是在耶和华之家，为事奉祂时所用的。伯沙撒王大摆宴席和他的大臣、妻妾、妃嫔用这些器皿来喝酒，着实对耶和华非常不敬(但5:3-4)。

伯沙撒知道自己不该步上父亲尼布甲尼撒的后尘，犯下“心高气傲”的罪(但5:20;22-23)。

所以，耶和华的回应是迅速的(但5:5)而那后果也是致命的，就在“当夜”，伯沙撒被杀，他的王国也被夺取了(但5:30)。

反思：那些在神的家分别出来，为服事神所用的东西，我们会滥用它们来达到自己利益或目的吗？我们是否比较在意做对的事情(如但以里)，或是为金钱上的利益而贪婪(但5:17)?

应用：敬重耶和华的王权，切勿滥用祂的器皿。记住，祂今天也能迅速地做出回应。
