Posture of Matt 1-28: Proving to the Jews that Jesus is their Messiah. None of us have as much credential as John the Baptist (Matt 3:1-12):-

His birth was announced by ANGELS (Luke 1:5-25);

His rejoiced over Jesus while he was still in the womb--"The baby in my womb leaped for joy" (Luke 1:44);

His ministry was FORETOLD by Isa 40:3;

His lifestyle was PROPHETIC (Matt 3:4);

His preaching was ATTRACTIVE & EFFECTIVE (Matt 3:5-6);

His message was UNCOMPROMISING & POWERFUL (Matt 3:7-10).

YET, John the Baptist found himself unworthy: "... but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry" (Matt 3:11). Therefore, repent (Matt 3:7) and be humble (Matt 3:9). So what if they had Abraham as their father, because out of these stones "God can raise up children for Abraham" (Matt 3:9).

APPLICATION: Get rid of pride. May all of us be like John the Baptist, totally humble. Won't we?

马太1-28章的论调：向犹太人证明耶稣是他们的弥赛亚。我们没有人能像施洗约翰那样有这么多的凭证(太3:1-12)：-

他的出生是天使宣告的(路加福音1:5-25)；

他在腹中听到耶稣时欢喜地跳跃---“我腹中的胎儿就欢喜跳跃”(路加福音1:44)；

他的传道的职事在以赛亚书40:3已被预知；

他过的是先知的生活(太3:4)；

他的讲道既吸引人又有效(太3:5-6)；

他的信息既坚定又有力(太3:7-10)；

然而，施洗约翰却认为自己是不配的：“...但在我以后要来的那一位，能力比我更大，我就是替他提鞋也没有资格”(太3:11)。所以，当悔改(太3:7)、谦卑(太3:9)。他们有亚伯拉罕当祖宗，又如何？因为“神能从这些石头中给亚伯拉罕兴起后裔”(太3:9)。

应用：除去骄傲。愿我们每个都能像施洗约翰那样完全的谦卑。好不好？
