There is hope in the end.

Scripture focus: Daniel 12:1 “At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book. (ESV)

Reflection:

Daniel 12 pulls back the curtain on the future, offering a glimpse of what will happen in the "time of the end."It speaks of great tribulation—unlike anything the world has seen—yet it also speaks of great deliverance.

The angel tells Daniel that "many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt." (v. 2). This is one of the clearest Old Testament references to the resurrection of the dead. It reminds us that this life is not all there is. Every soul will stand before God.

But here’s the hope: those “found written in the book”(v. 1) will be saved. This echoes what Revelation later calls the Book of Life—the record of those who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ.

Daniel is told to seal up the words until the time of the end (v. 4), meaning this prophecy was for a future generation. But for us, living post-Christ’s resurrection and with the fullness of the Gospel, we understand more of what Daniel saw in part. Jesus Himself said in John 5:28-29 that a day is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear His voice and rise—those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.

Application:

(1) Is your name written in the Book of Life? The only way to be sure is to trust in Jesus Christ for salvation.

(2) Are you living with eternal hope in view? The trials of this life are temporary, but the glory to come is eternal.

(3) Are you helping others prepare for the end? Daniel was told that the wise will shine like the brightness of the sky(v. 3)—those who lead many to righteousness will shine like stars forever.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the promise of resurrection and eternal life. Help me to live with eternity in mind. Let me not fear the end, but trust in Your deliverance. Give me boldness to share the Gospel so that many more may have their names written in Your book. In Jesus' name, Amen.

终局有盼望。

经文焦点：“那时保护你同胞的伟大护卫天使米迦勒必站起来；并且必有患难的时期，是立国以来直到那时未曾有过的。那时你的同胞中名字记录在册上的，都必得拯救。——但以理书12:1

默想：

但以理书12揭开未来帷幕，预示“末世”将临的景象。它描述了前所未有的大患难，却也宣告了伟大的拯救。

天使告诉但以理：“睡在尘土中的许多人必复醒，其中有得永生的，也有受羞辱永远被憎恶的。”（第2节）这是旧约中对死人复活最明确的预言之一，提醒我们今生并非终点，每个灵魂都将站在上帝面前。

但盼望在此：那些被“记录在册上的”（第1节）必得救赎。这预示了《启示录》后文所称的“生命册”——记载着被耶稣基督救赎之人的名册。

但以理受命将这些话封存，直到末世（第4节），这预示着此预言是为后世子孙而设。但我们这些生活在基督复活之后、拥有完整福音的人，更能理解但以理所见之部分启示。耶稣在约翰福音5:28-29亲自宣告：日子将到，凡在坟墓里听见祂声音的都要复活——行善的复活得生命，作恶的复活受审判。

应用：

(1) 你的名字是否写在生命册上？唯一确证之道是信靠耶稣基督得救恩。

(2) 你是否活出永恒盼望？今生的试炼是暂时的，将来的荣耀却是永恒的。

(3) 你是否帮助他人预备末世？但以理受启示说：智慧人必发光如天上的光辉（第3节）——那些引导多人归义的，必如星辰永远发光。

祷告：主啊，感谢祢赐下复活与永生的应许。求祢助我以永恒为念而活，使我不惧末日，唯信祢的拯救。赐我传扬福音的胆量，让更多人名字被记在祢的册上。奉耶稣的名求，阿们。
