Isaiah 64:1–2 [1] Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence—[2] as when fire kindles brushwood and the fire causes water to boil—to make your name known to your adversaries, and that the nations might tremble at your presence! (ESV)
🛐 We do cry for God’s intervention at times in things that happen in our lives. However, God seemed hidden behind the clouds and above the skies—like blocked by an invisible ceiling or layered obstacles from acting into human history. That was why the prophet prayed that God would “rend” (tear open) the heavens and come down.
💡 Reflection:
Isaiah 64 was the desperate cry of a people who have seen their own sins and longed for God to intervene and for God's glory to return. Would you also ask God to “rend the heavens”—to tear open the skies and step into your brokenness with His mighty presence? Are we alive enough to respond, to cry for revival, for transformation and for mercy?
In verse 6, Isaiah acknowledged their own uncleanness and deeds are no more than like a polluted garment. It's a humbling reminder that no matter how good we think we are, we cannot earn God’s favor. Only by His grace can we be made clean. This confession is not meant to lead us to despair, but to a deeper trust in God's mercy and to continually do so throughout our lives.
But the chapter doesn't end with hopelessness. Verse 8 turned our eyes back to God's fatherly love:
Isaiah 64:8–9 [8] But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand. [9] Be not so terribly angry, O LORD, and remember not iniquity forever. Behold, please look, we are all your people. (ESV)
🙏 Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
We echo the cry of Isaiah: Rend the heavens and come down. We need You, Lord. We see the brokenness in our world, in our churches, in our own hearts. Forgive us for relying on our own strength, for treating our righteousness as something earned. Shape us, mold us — we are the clay. Let revival begin with us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
🐾 Application:
(1) Confess: Spend time honestly confessing areas of self-righteousness or spiritual complacency.
(2) Surrender: Ask God to shape your heart like clay—soft, willing and surrendered fully to do His will.
(3) Pray for Revival: Personally and as a community of gathered believers, ask God to "come down" in power and renew His people.

🔥 在我们生活中发生的事情中，我们有时确实会呼求上帝的干预。然而，上帝似乎隐藏在云层之后和天空之上，就像被无形的天花板或层层障碍所阻挡，无法在人类历史中有所作为。这就是为什么先知祈求上帝 “撕裂天而降”，降临人间。
💡反思：以赛亚书 64 章是一个民族的绝望呼喊，他们看到了自己的罪，渴望上帝介入，渴望上帝的荣耀归来。你是否也会请求上帝“撕裂诸天”--撕开天空，以祂大能的同在进入你的破碎之中？我们是否有足够的“心”去回应，去呼求复兴、改变和怜悯？
在第 6 节中，以赛亚承认他们自己的不洁，他们的行为不过像一件污秽的衣服。这是一个谦卑的提醒，无论我们认为自己有多好，我们都无法靠自己赢得上帝的眷顾。只有靠着祂的恩典，我们才能变得洁净。这种忏悔并不是要让我们绝望，而是要让我们更深地相信上帝的怜悯，并在我们的一生中不断地这样做。
但本章并没有以绝望结束。第 8 节将我们的目光重新投向上帝的父爱：
以赛亚书 64:8-9 [8] 耶和华啊！现在你还是我们的父；我们不过是泥土，你才是陶匠；我们众人都是你手所作的。9 耶和华啊！求你不要大发烈怒。不要永远记念罪孽。求你垂看我们，我们众人都是你的子民。
🙏祷告：
亲爱的天父、
我们回应以赛亚的呼喊： 撕裂诸天，降下吧。主啊，我们需要你。我们看到我们的世界、我们的教会、我们自己心中的破碎。原谅我们依赖自己的力量，原谅我们把自己的公义当作应得的东西。塑造我们--我们就想您手中的泥土。让复兴从我们开始。奉耶稣的名，阿门。
🔥 应用：
(1) 认罪：花时间诚实地承认自以为是或属灵自满的地方。
(2) 降服：求神把你的心塑造得像粘土一样柔软，愿意完全降服，遵行祂的旨意。
(3) 为复兴祷告：作为个人和一起参与教会的信徒群体，求神以大能“降下”，更新祂的子民。
