Acts 27 reads like a witness' account of a storm and shipwreck. Chaotic as the storm was, it was God's way of transporting Paul to Rome to testify before the Emperor. Nature, pagans, pilot, shipowner and the soldiers all played a part in this, even when they were not aware of it.

Incidentally, after the Fast (Day of Atonement, Acts 27:9), the 276 on board were ultimately saved after more than 14 days "in suspense and without food" (Acts 27:33). The UPSIDE DOWN world of Luke-Acts continues right from Luke 1-2.

Whereas the Jews, Elders and soldiers wanted to KILL Paul, KINDNESS was shown by the centurion Julius (Acts 27:3,43).

In the midst of the storm, there was the breaking of bread, "And when he had said these things, he took bread, and giving thanks to God in the presence of all he broke it and began to eat.  Then they all were encouraged and ate some food themselves" (Acts 27:35-36). It reminds us of Matt 26:26, "...Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples..."

REFLECTION: God not only saved the 276 from the storm, He is able to give life to all those who come to Him today. Rome and the rest of the world should trust in this God.
