QT 07/11/2025 Fri. Colossians 3:12–17 Focus on What’s Been Made Right in Christ.
READ http://www.esv.org/col3:12-17
🕊 Paul urges readers to take an Alternative Mindset to knee-jerk complaints that we might sprout from our mouths or minds each day.
Scripture Focus: Colossians 3:15–16 (ESV)
“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
💭 Main Idea:
There are plenty of reasons, every day, to complain — about other people’s flaws, about disappointments, about things not going as we planned. But Colossians 3:12–17 shows us a better way: not driven by what’s wrong, but ruled by what’s been made right in Christ.
🔄 A Shift in Mindset
Paul isn’t asking the Colossians to ignore conflict, frustration, or difficulty — but to let something stronger govern their reactions: “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.” That word “rule” is the language of decision-making — like an umpire or referee. When we’re tempted to react, it’s Christ’s peace that gets the final say.
Instead of being quick to criticise, complain, or dwell on flaws, we’re called to gratitude. That’s not just a positive attitude — it’s a deeply spiritual act. Being thankful shifts our focus from what’s lacking to what we’ve received in Jesus.
📖 Letting the Word Dwell Richly
Verse 16 continues the theme: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…”
It’s not just a quick verse in the morning or a once-a-week sermon — but a life saturated with Scripture. And what flows out of that rich indwelling? Teaching, encouragement, worship, gratitude.
When the Word dwells in us, what overflows isn’t criticism — but wisdom, encouragement, and joyful worship.
🙌 Today’s Takeaway:
In a world quick to rage, react, and point fingers, Christ calls us to a different mindset:
(1) Let peace rule, not resentment.
(2) Let thankfulness rise, not grumbling.
(3) Let Scripture guide your voice, not frustration.
This isn’t passive or naïve — it’s powerful. It’s the fruit of Christ at work in us, forming a community that reflects His grace.
✨ Prayer:
Lord, in the middle of my messy days, teach me to let Your peace rule my heart.
Help me to resist the pull to dwell on faults and frustrations. Let Your Word dwell in me richly — so that what I speak, what I think, and how I respond flows from a heart full of grace and gratitude. In Jesus' name, Amen.
阅读 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=colossians 3%3A12-17&version=CNVS
