Since about 100 years ago, many started to view Matthew as having 5 sermons. Matt 7 closes the First Sermon.
Sermon 1: Matt 5-7
The summary statement is Matt 7:28 "And when Jesus finished these SAYINGS, the crowds were astonished at his teaching."
Sermon 2: Matt 10
The summary statement is Matt 11:1 "When Jesus had finished INSTRUCTING his twelve disciples, he went on from there to TEACH and PREACH in their cities."
Sermon 3: Matt 13
The summary statement is Matt 13:53 "And when Jesus had finished these PARABLES, he went away from there".
Sermon 4: Matt 18
The summary statement is Matt 19:1 "Now when Jesus had finished these SAYINGS, he went away from Galilee and entered the region of Judea beyond the JORDAN."
Sermon 5: Matt 23-25
The summary statement is Matt 26:1 "When Jesus had finished all these SAYINGS, he SAID to his DISCIPLES".
REFLECTION: According to this view, Matthew has 5 sermons. Does "5 sermons" ring a bell? Do the words "sayings", "instructing", "teach", "preach", "parables" and "beyond the Jordan" remind you of anyone? Do you find this 5 part structure persuasive? If yes, then Jesus is the New Moses that gives the New Israel the NEW PENTATEUCH!
APPLICATION: A Jew reading the Pentateuch (Genesis to Deuteronomy), commonly known as the Law of Moses, would take it as authoritative for religion and life. The Jewish readers of Matthew should also take it as authoritative and obey its teachings seriously because they are the sayings of the new Moses--Jesus Christ. We should too.

讲论1：太5-7
总结陈词为 太7:28“耶稣讲完了这些话，群众都惊奇他的教训。”
讲论2：太10章
总结陈词为 太11:1“耶稣吩咐完了十二门徒，就离开那里，在各城里施教传道。”
讲论3:太13
总结陈词为 太13:53“耶稣讲完了这些比喻，就离开那地方。”
讲论4：太18
总结陈词为 太19:1“耶稣讲完了这些话，就离开加利利，来到约旦河东的犹太境内。”
讲论5:太23-25
总结陈词为 太26:1“耶稣说完了这一切话，就对门徒说：”
反省：根据这个观点，马太福音是有5篇讲论。说到”5篇讲论“，你是否想起了什么？这些词句，“教训”，“吩咐”，“传道”，“比喻”，“讲完”及“约旦河东”使你想起谁吗？你觉得这个五部的构架有说服力吗？如果是的话，那么耶稣就是那新摩西，那给新以色列新摩西五经的那位！
应用：一个读摩西五经(创世记至申命记)一般也泛指摩西律法的犹太人，会把其看为是宗教和生命的权威。那些读马太福音的犹太人也应当把其看为是权威并认真地遵守教导因为这些是新摩西---耶稣基督所说的话。我们也一样。
