Fashion accessories and precious metals are not the most valuable things a woman (or man for that matter) can wear (1Pe 3:3). However, precious in God's sight (1Pe 3:4) is "A gentle and quiet spirit" (1Pe 3:4). It has flavours of humility, meekness and courtesy blended into it.

REFLECTION: Do you have this "gentle and quiet spirit" which Peter talks about, sisters?

This spirit is not merely an external thing (1Pe 3:3) but of the inner heart (1Pe 3:4). It is "imperishable" (1Pe 3:4) and linked with putting one's hope in God (1Pe 3:5). To the Apostle, that's beauty for women (1Pe 3:5) in God's sight (1Pe 3:4).

The ingredient of being "submissive" (addressed to wives, 1Pe 3:1) is important for harmony. The attitude of being "understanding" (addressed to husbands in 1Pe 3:7) is important too for the home. The husband is to have a servant attitude, treat the wife as an heir "of the grace of life" together with him, and to help her as if he was helping a "weaker partner".

MEMORY VERSE: Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. (1Pe 3:8-9)

外表的装饰和金饰都不是一个女子最宝贵的穿戴(彼前3:3)。然而，在神面前(彼前3:4)，最宝贵的是“温柔安静的心灵”(彼前3:4)。这里头就包含了谦卑 、温顺和有礼。

反省：彼得所说的“温柔安静的心灵”,你有吗，姐妹们？

这心灵不是外在的(彼前3:3)，而是内心的(彼前3:4)。它是“不能毁坏的”(彼前3:4)，它也是与仰望神相连的(彼前3:5)。对使徒来说，在神的眼里(彼前3:4)，那是妇女的内在美。

要维持和谐，“顺服”(针对妻子而言，彼前3:1)是很重要的因素。“体谅”(针对丈夫而言，彼前3:7)对于一个家来说也是很重要的。丈夫必须要有仆人的态度，对待妻子犹如对待和他同样是继承"生命的恩典"的人，并帮助她，就好像帮助一个“较弱的伙伴”一样。

背诵金句：总括来说，你们要彼此同心，互相体恤，亲爱像弟兄，满有温柔，存心谦卑。不要以恶报恶，以辱骂还辱骂，倒要祝福，因为你们就是为此蒙召，好叫你们承受福气。(彼前3:8-9)。
