In 1 Peter 4, with the same tone as Paul in Gal 2:20, Peter reminds the recipients not to live "for evil human desires" (1Pe 4:2) but "rather for the will of God".

The will of God includes being "self-controlled", "sober-minded", "loving one another earnestly", offering hospitality, using one's gift to serve others and serve using the strength that God provides (1Pe 4:7-11).

When a Christian experiences suffering, he or she should ask whether it is due to sin (1Pe 4:15). If there is no sin involved, "if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name" (1Pe 4:16).

REFLECTION: Is it ever possible that suffering can occur according to God's will?

The verse 1Pe 4:19 seems to suggest so. But those who suffer according to God’s will should "entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good."

APPLICATION: Check! Repent! Do good and entrust ourselves to God when faced with life's challenges until that day, "when his glory is revealed" (1Pe 4:13).

在彼前4章，如同保罗在加拉太书2:20的语气一样，彼得提醒收信人不要为“人的私欲”而活(彼前4:2)而是要“顺从神的旨意”。

神的旨意包括“有节制”、“警醒”、“彼此切实相爱”、互相接待、各人照着所领受的恩赐、神所赐的力量彼此服事(彼前4:7-11)。

当一个基督徒经历苦难时，他或她应该问这是不是因为罪的缘故(彼前4:15)。如果不是因为罪，“如果因为作基督徒而受苦，不要以为羞耻，倒要借着这名字荣耀　神。”(彼前4:16)。

反省：有没有可能受苦是来自神的旨意？

彼前4:19看起来似乎如此。但那些顺着神的旨意受苦的应该“要继续地行善，把自己的生命交托那信实的创造者”。

应用：省察！悔改！行善并在遇到生活上的困难时把自己交托给神，直到那天，“他荣耀显现的时候”(彼前4:13)。
