“Then he led me to the gate, the gate facing east. And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was coming from the east... and the earth shone with his glory.”
(Ezekiel 43:1–2)
Ezekiel 43:10–12 [10] “As for you, son of man, describe to the house of Israel the temple, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and they shall measure the plan. [11] And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the design of the temple, its arrangement, its exits and its entrances, that is, its whole design; and make known to them as well all its statutes and its whole design and all its laws, and write it down in their sight, so that they may observe all its laws and all its statutes and carry them out. [12] This is the law of the temple: the whole territory on the top of the mountain all around shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the temple. (ESV)
Reflection:
Ezekiel had witnessed one of the most tragic visions in Scripture: the glory of the LORD departing the temple (Ezekiel 10). But now, in Ezekiel 43, glory returns. God’s presence once again fills the house.
The vision is stunning: the glory comes from the east—the same direction it had left—and enters the temple with overwhelming brilliance and awe. The sound of His coming is like “the sound of many waters” (v.2), and the earth shines with His glory.
This is not just architectural. This is spiritual restoration.
Conviction and Calling (vv.10–12):
In verses 10–12, God tells Ezekiel to describe the temple so the people would be ashamed of their sins. In other words, the revelation of God's holiness and order is meant to lead to repentance.
“...that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and they shall measure the plan.” (v.10)
God’s perfect design exposes our flawed hearts. But His purpose is redemption, not rejection. If the people humble themselves, repent, and follow His ways, the glory remains.
Gospel Connection:
Today, we don’t need to go to a physical temple—Jesus is the true temple (John 2:19–21), and through Him, the glory of God has come to dwell with us (John 1:14). After the cross and resurrection, the Spirit of God now fills believers, making us His temple (1 Corinthians 3:16).
But this passage reminds us: God's presence is holy. We can't host His glory casually. His indwelling presence should cause us to examine our lives, turn from sin, and walk in His ways.
Application:
(1) Reflect on His Glory: Don’t get numb to the presence of God. Spend time in worship, silence, and Scripture, asking Him to show you His beauty and holiness.
(2) Repent and Return: Like Israel, we often drift. But God's glory invites us back. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas that need confession and change.
(3) Live as His Temple: Let every part of your life—speech, habits, thoughts—be a reflection of the God who dwells within you.
Prayer:
Father, let Your glory fill my life as it filled the temple in Ezekiel’s vision. Where I’ve drifted, convict me. Where I’ve compromised, cleanse me. Make me holy, not by my strength, but by Your Spirit. Thank You for Jesus, the true temple, who makes a way for Your glory to dwell in me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

默想：
以西结曾目睹圣经中最悲怆的异象之一：耶和华的荣耀离开圣殿（以西结书10章）。但此刻，在以西结书43章中，荣耀重返。神的同在再度充满圣所。
异象震撼人心：荣耀从东方而来——正是它离去的方向——以令人窒息的辉煌与威严进入圣殿。祂降临的声音如“大水的声音”（第2节），大地因祂的荣耀而发光。
这不仅是建筑的重建，更是属灵的复兴。
责备与呼召（第10-12节）：
10-12节中，神命以西结描述圣殿，使百姓因罪愆蒙羞。换言之，神圣洁与秩序的启示旨在引领悔改。
“...使他们因自己的罪孽而羞愧，又要他们量度殿的尺寸。”（10节）
神的完美设计暴露了我们有瑕疵的心。但祂的目的在于救赎而非弃绝。若百姓谦卑悔改，遵行祂的道路，荣耀便永存。
福音关联：
今日我们无需前往实体圣殿——耶稣才是真正的圣殿（约翰福音2:19-21），借着祂，神的荣耀已降临与我们同住（约翰福音1:14）。十字架与复活之后，神的灵如今充满信徒，使我们成为祂的殿宇（哥林多前书3:16）。
但这段经文提醒我们：神的同在是圣洁的。我们不可轻率地承载祂的荣耀。祂内住的同在应当促使我们省察生命、弃绝罪恶、遵行祂的道路。
应用：
(1) 默想祂的荣耀：莫对神的同在麻木。花时间敬拜、静默、读经，求祂向你显明祂的美丽与圣洁。
(2) 悔改归回：我们常如以色列民般偏离正道，但神的荣耀召我们归返。求圣灵揭示需认罪悔改的领域。
(3) 活出圣殿生命：让言语、习惯、思想等生命各部分，都彰显内住之神的形象。
祷告：
天父，愿祢的荣耀如以西结异象中充满圣殿般充满我生命。在我偏离之处，求祢责备我；在我妥协之处，求祢洁净我。非凭我力量，唯靠祢的灵使我成圣。感谢祢赐下耶稣——那真正的圣殿，为祢的荣耀在我里面居住开辟道路。奉耶稣的名求。阿们。
