The book "Acts of the Apostles" could just as well have been called "Acts of the Holy Spirit". Luke portrayed how the Holy Spirit's power enabled the gospel to reach the "end of the earth" (Acts 1:8).
In spite of great opposition (Acts 8:1-3), the gospel powered across cultural boundaries when Philip preached in Samaria bringing "much joy in that city" (Acts 8:8). However, the episode of Simon the Magician (Acts 8:9-25) showed that the Holy Spirit's guidance, power and work could not be bought with money. Don't try that today.
Indeed, the Holy Spirit's guidance is wonderful yet not fully comprehensible to all. Unknown to the gospel presenters like Philip, the Ethiopian Eunuch was reading Isaiah 53:7-8 on the way back from Jerusalem (Acts 8:32-34). The adhoc Scripture interpretation session ended with the Ethiopian eagerly seeking baptism (Acts 8:36-38). The gospel have now crossed national and racial boundaries too!
APPLICATION: Prepare and present. The Holy Spirit might orchestrate events where we meet someone who is seeking after God, even someone whose origin and background you do not expect at all.
Nevertheless, Philip was familiar enough with Scripture in order to recognise the passage. He engaged him appropriately and presented it holistically. Are you ever ready?

“使徒行传”这本书大可叫成“圣灵行传”。路加描述了圣灵的大能如何让福音传到“世界的地极”(徒1:8)。
尽管遭到逼迫(徒8:1-3)，当腓利下撒玛利亚城去，在那城带来“大欢喜”(徒8:8)，福音已突破了文化的界限。然而，在那城里行邪术的西门(徒8:9-25)这件事却让我们看到圣灵的指引、大能和工作，是金钱所买不到的。今天也不要那样做。
确实，圣灵的引导是很奇妙的但又是让人测不透的。传扬福音的人如腓利并不知道，那衣索匹亚的太监正在读以赛亚书53:7-8，在从耶路撒冷回来的路上(徒8:32-34)。那临时的解经最后以那衣索匹亚人热切寻求受洗(徒8:36-38)作为结束。福音现在已越过了国家和种族的界限！
应用:预备好传福音。圣灵或许会安排事件让你遇到正在寻求神的人，或遇到一个其背景是你意料不到的人。
尽管如此，腓利对经文是很熟悉的，以致他能够认出那篇经文。他适当地与那衣索匹亚人交流并完整地把福音呈现给他。你随时做好准备了吗？
