Our security rests not in our strength, but in His grip.
John 10 presents one of the most tender and powerful images of Jesus in all of Scripture: the Good Shepherd. In a world filled with competing voices, false promises, and spiritual danger, Jesus reveals Himself as the only true Shepherd who lovingly leads, protects, and lays down His life for His sheep.
(1) The Shepherd’s Voice (John 10:1–6, 27)
Jesus begins by describing a shepherd whose sheep recognize his voice and follow him. Unlike strangers or thieves, the true shepherd calls his sheep by name.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)
This reminds us that Christianity is not merely about religious behavior but about relationship. Jesus knows His people personally. He speaks through His Word, by His Spirit, and through godly counsel. The question is not whether God is speaking—but whether we are listening.
Reflection: What voices compete for your attention today? Are you spending time in Scripture so you can clearly recognize the Shepherd’s voice? Do you maintain a close enough relationship with your community and shepherds such that they are allowed to see and provide input on what’s happening in your life?
(2) The Door of Salvation (John 10:7–10)
Jesus then declares: “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved…” (John 10:9)
Salvation is not found through effort, morality, or religion alone. Jesus Himself is the entrance into eternal life. He contrasts His mission with that of the thief: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)
The abundant life Jesus offers is not defined by comfort or prosperity, but by forgiveness, peace with God, freedom from sin, and eternal hope.
Reflection: Have you trusted Christ alone as the door to salvation, or are you relying on something else to give you life and security?
(3) The Sacrificial Love of the Good Shepherd (John 10:11–18)
Jesus makes one of the clearest gospel statements in Scripture: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)
Unlike hired hands who flee when danger comes, Jesus willingly goes to the cross. His death was not an accident—it was an act of love and obedience. He laid down His life to rescue sinners, and He took it up again in victory. This passage reminds us that we are deeply loved. We belong to a Shepherd who values us enough to die for us.
Reflection: When you struggle with guilt, fear, or doubt, do you remember the cost Jesus paid to make you His own?
(4) Secure in the Shepherd’s Hands (John 10:28–30)
One of the most comforting promises in Scripture appears near the end of the chapter: “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)
Our security rests not in our strength, but in His grip. The same Shepherd who saves us also keeps us. United with the Father, Jesus assures believers that nothing can separate them from His care.
Reflection: Are you resting in Christ’s promise of eternal security, or are you living in fear of losing God’s love?
Closing Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for sending the Good Shepherd, who called us by name, for laying down Jesus’ life for my salvation, and for holding me securely in Your hands. Help me to listen for Your voice, follow You faithfully, and trust You completely. Lead me today in paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

我们的安全并非源于自身力量，而在于祂的掌握之中。
约翰福音10章呈现了圣经中最温柔而有力的一幅耶稣形象：良善的牧人。在这个充斥着纷杂声音、虚假承诺与属灵危险的世界里，耶稣显明自己是唯一的真牧人，以慈爱引领、守护祂的羊群，并为羊舍命。
(1) 牧人的声音（约翰福音10:1-6,27）
耶稣首先描述一位牧人，他的羊认得他的声音并跟随他。与陌生人或盗贼不同，真牧人按名字呼唤自己的羊。
“我的羊听我的声音，我也认识他们，他们也跟随我。”（约翰福音10:27）
这提醒我们：基督教信仰不仅关乎宗教行为，更关乎亲密关系。耶稣亲自认识祂的子民。祂通过圣言、圣灵和属灵的劝诫向我们说话。关键不在于神是否在说话——而在于我们是否在聆听。
反思：今日哪些声音在争夺你的注意力？你是否花时间研读圣经，以便清晰辨认牧者的声音？你与教会群体及牧者保持着足够亲密的关系吗？让他们能看见并参与你生命中的事？
(2) 救恩之门（约翰福音10:7-10）
耶稣宣告说：“ 我就是门，如果有人借着我进来，就必定得救，并且可以出、可以入，也可以找到草场。”（约翰福音10:9）
救恩并非仅凭努力、道德或宗教而得。耶稣自己就是通往永生的门。他将自己的使命与盗贼的使命对比：“贼来了，不过是要偷窃、杀害、毁坏；我来了，是要使羊得生命，并且得的更丰盛。” （约翰福音10:10）
耶稣所赐的丰盛生命，并非以安逸或富足为标准，而是以赦免、与神的和睦、脱离罪的捆绑及永恒的盼望为标志。
反思：你是否单单信靠基督作为救恩之门，还是倚靠其他事物来获取生命与保障？
(3) 良善牧人的牺牲之爱（约翰福音10:11-18）
耶稣在圣经中作出了最清晰的福音宣告之一：“我是好牧人，好牧人为羊舍命。”（约翰福音10:11）
雇工遇险便逃，耶稣却甘愿走向十字架。祂的死非偶然——乃是爱与顺服的行动。祂舍命拯救罪人，又在得胜中复活。这段经文提醒我们：我们被深爱着。我们属于一位珍视我们、甘愿为我们舍命的牧人。
默想：当你被罪疚、恐惧或怀疑缠绕时，可曾想起耶稣为你付出的代价？
(4) 牧人掌握之中的安稳（约翰福音10:28-30）
圣经中最令人心安的应许之一出现在本章末尾：“我赐给他们永生，他们永不灭亡，谁也不能从我手里把他们夺去。”（约翰福音10:28）
我们的安全并非源于自身力量，而在于祂的掌握之中。那位拯救我们的牧人，同样保守着我们。与父神合一的耶稣向信徒保证：没有任何事物能使他们脱离祂的看顾。
反思：你是否安息在基督永恒保守的应许中？还是活在失去神爱的恐惧里？

亲爱的天父，感谢祢差遣良善的牧者呼召我们，为我的救赎舍弃耶稣的生命，并将我稳稳托在祢掌握之中。求祢帮助我聆听祢的声音，忠心跟随祢，全然信靠祢。今日求祢为祢名的缘故，引领我行在公义的道路上。奉耶稣的名求。阿们。
