The teaching of today's passage is about Christ-centred relationships in the Christian household and workplace.

📖 Scripture: Colossians 3:18–4:1 (ESV)
“Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality. Masters, treat your bondservants justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.”

💡 Reflection:

Paul’s words here remind us that the gospel transforms every relationship — marriage, family, and work. The world’s model of authority and submission is built on pride and control. But in Christ, these relationships become places where love, humility, and service shine.

(1) Wives and husbands reflect Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:22–25). Submission and love are not about power, but about mutual honour and sacrifice — both seeking to glorify Jesus.

(2) Children and parents model obedience and encouragement. A godly home is one where authority builds up, not tears down.

(3) Workers and masters (or employers and employees) are reminded that all labour is ultimately service to Christ. The Christian does not work for applause but for the Lord’s reward.

Paul brings it all together with verse 23:
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
This is the heartbeat of Christian living — Christ is Lord over every part of life.

🙏 Application:

(1) At home: Am I treating my spouse, parents, or children in a way that shows Christ’s love and humility?

(2) At work: Do I serve faithfully and joyfully, knowing that my true Master is Jesus?

(3) In leadership: If I have authority, do I use it to lift others up, remembering that I too answer to God?

When Jesus is Lord in our homes and workplaces, ordinary life becomes sacred ground.

🕊️ Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me live every relationship and every task as unto You. Teach me to love, serve, and lead with humility and grace. Let my home and my work reflect Your Kingdom — where You are Lord of all. In Jesus' name. Amen.
