The powerful God who extracts justice (25:1–5) will also qualify to be the God that blesses His faithful followers among all the nations of the earth (25:6–12).

Isaiah 25:1
[1] O LORD, you are my God;
I will exalt you; I will praise your name,
for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of old, faithful and sure. (ESV)

While He extends mercy and help to the poor and the distressed, He also caused those who are strong and ruthless to take note (25:3). This was because the LORD would one day do something that was longed for by His people:

Isaiah 25:6–8
[6] On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples
a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine,
of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.
[7] And he will swallow up on this mountain
the covering that is cast over all peoples,
the veil that is spread over all nations.
[8] He will swallow up death forever;
and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces,
and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the LORD has spoken. (ESV)

This the LORD did through Jesus Christ, who performed His first miracle of changing water into wine at the wedding feast at Cana in the northern suburban town of Galilee (see John 2:1-12). Indeed the "master of the feast" of that wedding remarked to Jesus, "But you have kept the good wine until now.” (John 2:10b, ESV)

Yes the LORD had kept the celebratory well-aged wine for a joyous occasion—when His Son Jesus Christ would swallow up the covering that is cast over all peoples (Isaiah 25:7), and ultimately "He will swallow up death forever" (Isaiah 25:8).

Those who tear now would have to look to Him for justice and blessings for their solution from God. We can continue to trust God and move forward with life, "for the LORD has spoken" (Isa 25:8) and His words would come to pass one day.

REFLECTION: How much do you trust Him for your tomorrow?
