Are we aware of true and false theatrics—contrasting genuine prophetic truth with performative, self-serving religion?
Scripture Focus: Jeremiah 28:15-16 (ESV)
“Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah, ‘Listen, Hananiah, the Lord has not sent you, and you have made this people trust in a lie. Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I will remove you from the face of the earth.’”
Reflection:
Jeremiah 28 unfolds like a spiritual drama. The prophet Hananiah stands in the temple courts with boldness. He declares, in the name of the Lord, that within two years the yoke of Babylon will be broken. As if to add force to his claim, he breaks the wooden yoke that Jeremiah had been wearing—a theatrical move meant to display authority and inspiration.
But there’s a problem. God never said it.
In contrast, the real prophet—Jeremiah—spoke an unpopular word. He told the people that the exile would not end soon, and that submission to Babylon was God’s will for the time. No drama. No broken props. Just a steady, obedient voice—often ignored, often mocked.
This passage is a sober warning about religious performance. Hananiah’s prophecy was bold, optimistic, and nationalistic. It played well to the crowd. But it was a lie—and it cost him his life. He died in that same year (28:17).
Key Themes:
(1) Not All That Sounds Spiritual Is from God.
Hananiah spoke in God’s name, but God said, “I have not sent you.” (v.15) Many voices today still speak with confidence, charisma, and even Scripture—but speak lies wrapped in light (2 Cor. 11:14).
(2) False Theatrics Offer Fast Hope, Not True Healing.
Hananiah gave a shortcut: exile over in two years. God’s word, through Jeremiah, required humility, repentance, and waiting. True messages often hurt before they heal.
(3) God Honors the Quiet Obedience of the Faithful.
Jeremiah didn’t fight theatrics with theatrics. He left the temple, listened to God, and returned with His word. He was not flashy, but faithful—and that’s what God honours.
Application: Ask yourself today:
(a) Do I crave the comfort of performance over the call to patience?
(b) Am I drawn to leaders and messages that “look” powerful but lack the fruit of the Spirit?
(c) Have I substituted emotion for obedience, or drama for discernment?
True Christianity isn’t about stirring the crowd. It’s about faithfully carrying the yoke Jesus gives us—light in burden, but heavy in calling (Matthew 11:28-30).
Prayer:
Father, help me to discern the true from the false, the Spirit from the show. Guard my heart from trusting in comforting lies instead of Your life-giving truth. Make me bold like Jeremiah—willing to stand in truth even when the crowd applauds the lie. In Jesus’ name, amen.

经文重点： 耶利米书 28:15-16
15 耶利米先知就对哈拿尼雅先知说：“哈拿尼雅啊！你要听，耶和华并没有差遣你，你竟使这人民信靠谎言。 16 因此耶和华这样说：‘看哪！我必使你离开人世；你今年一定死，因为你说了悖逆耶和华的话。’”
反思：
耶利米书第 28 章就像一出属灵的戏剧。先知哈拿尼雅勇敢地站在圣殿的院子里。他奉耶和华的名宣告，巴比伦的轭将在两年内被打破。似乎是为了给他的声明增添力量，他打破了耶利米一直戴着的木枷锁--这一戏剧性的举动意在显示权威和灵感。
但有一个问题。上帝从未说过哈拿尼雅所预言的那一套。
相反，真正的先知耶利米却说了一句不受欢迎的话。他告诉人们，流亡不会很快结束，臣服于巴比伦是上帝的旨意。没有戏剧。没有破碎的道具。只有一个稳定、顺从的声音--常常被忽视，常常被嘲笑。
这段经文是对宗教表演的清醒警告。哈拿尼雅的预言是大胆的、乐观的、民族主义的。它很受群众欢迎。但这是一个谎言，而且让他付出了生命的代价。他死于同一年（28:17）。
关键主题：
(1) 并非所有听起来属灵的声音都来自上帝。
哈拿尼雅奉上帝的名说话，但上帝说：我没有差遣你。(第 15 节）今天仍有许多人自信满满、魅力十足地说话，甚至讲圣经，但说的都是裹着光的谎言（林后 11:14）。
(2) 虚假的理论提供的是快速的希望，而不是真正的医治。
哈拿尼雅提供了一条捷径：两年内结束流亡。神通过耶利米所说的话需要谦卑、悔改和等待 （70年）。真实的信息往往在得医治之前会让人感到痛苦。
(3) 上帝尊重忠心者的安静顺服。
耶利米没有用戏剧性来对抗戏剧性。他离开圣殿，聆听神的话语，然后带着神的话回来。他并不张扬，而是忠心，而这正是神所尊崇的。
应用：今天问问自己
(a) 我是否渴望表演的舒适而不是耐心的呼召？
(b) 我是否被那些 “看起来 ”强大但缺乏圣灵果子的领袖和信息所吸引？
(c) 我是否以情感代替了顺服，或以戏剧性代替了辨别力？
真正的基督教不是要煽动群众。而是要忠心地负起耶稣给我们的轭--耶稣的轭虽容易负的，但这呼召及使命却重（马太福音 11：28-30）。
祷告
天父，求你帮助我辨别真假，辨别圣灵和表演。保守我的心，不要相信安慰人的谎言，而不是你赐予生命的真理。让我像耶利米一样勇敢--即使众人为谎言喝彩，我也愿意站在真理中。奉耶稣的名，阿们。
