QT 21/01/2026 Wed. John 15. “The Abundant Life: Responding to God’s Revelations in Word and Deeds.”
READ http://www.esv.org/john15
We experience the abundant life when we respond to God’s many invitations to join Him in His Word and Works.
Scripture Focus: “[23] Whoever hates me hates my Father also. [24] If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. [25] But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: ‘They hated me without a cause.’” — John 15:23–25 (ESV)
Reflection: Responding to God’s Revelation
In John 15, Jesus speaks frankly about opposition. Some will hate Him despite the truth of His works and the revelation of God in Him. These verses remind us that God’s abundant life is not just a passive blessing—it is lived in response to God’s Word and deeds.
Notice a few key truths:
(1) Revelation demands a response.
Jesus’ miracles and teaching were undeniable demonstrations of God’s power and love. The world’s hatred was not against mere words—they were opposed to God’s revelation itself. Likewise, God reveals Himself through Scripture and in our lives today. To experience the abundant life, we must respond to His Word and works with faith, gratitude, and obedience.
(2) Rejection has consequences.
Those who witnessed Christ’s miracles yet hardened their hearts exemplify what happens when revelation is ignored or despised. Abundant life comes through alignment with God’s truth; rejection leads to spiritual blindness and alienation.
(3) Love and obedience are inseparable.
The abundant life is found in loving God and obeying His Word—through deeds of mercy, justice, and holiness. As believers, we are called not only to marvel at Christ’s revelation but to let it shape our actions, making our lives a testimony of His love and truth.
In short, God’s abundant life flows to those who respond faithfully—not with passive reception, but with a life that reflects God’s Word in deed and character. Hatred and rejection are a warning; love and obedience are the path to fullness in Christ.
Application
(1) Examine your response to God’s Word and works. Do you passively read Scripture or actively let it shape your actions?
(2) Live out your faith in deeds. Love, service, and obedience make God’s revelation tangible to others.
(3) Guard your heart against hardness. Remember that rejection of God’s revelation grieves Him and hinders the abundant life He offers.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for revealing yourself through the words and deeds of your Son Jesus Christ. Help me to respond with love, faith, and obedience, not with indifference or rejection. May my life reflect Your truth, and may I walk in the abundant life You offer, showing Your love in every action. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
