📖 Scripture:
"Thus says the Lord: 'Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight,' declares the Lord."
— Jeremiah 9:23–24 (ESV)

🪞 Reflections:

In a world that constantly encourages self-promotion—whether through education, strength, wealth, social media or influence—God calls His people to a different kind of glory: knowing Him.

Jeremiah 9 is a chapter marked by grief because his contemporaries had chased after manipulative falsehood (9:3), deception (9:4–5), the Baals (9:14) rather than The LORD. The prophet mourns over the sin and impending judgment of Judah.

The people have turned from God to deceit, idolatry, and rebellion. But even in the midst of divine warning, God gives a profound and gracious invitation in verses 23–24. He redirects our focus from temporary human achievement to eternal divine character.

God is not impressed by human wisdom, power, or wealth. These things fade. But what delights His heart is when we truly know Him—when we understand His nature and walk in His ways. He is a God of steadfast love, justice, and righteousness. These are not abstract ideas—they are lived out in His dealings with humanity and should be reflected in the lives of His people.

The Gospel makes this possible. In Jesus Christ, we not only know about God—we come to know Him personally. Through the cross, we see God's justice and love perfectly displayed. Through the resurrection, we receive His righteousness by faith.

📣 Application:
(1) Are you boasting in things that won’t last?

(2) Are you seeking to know God more deeply through His Word and through prayer?

(3) Is your life reflecting His love, justice, and righteousness to others?

Take time today to boast in the Lord—worship Him, thank Him, and live for Him.

🧸 Prayer: Father, forgive me for boasting in things that are fading—my intellect, my achievements, my possessions. I want to know You more. Help me to seek You with all my heart, and to reflect Your love, justice, and righteousness in everything I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
