MEDITATION: It took much arm-twisting for Nebuchadnezzar to learn to "praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble" (Dan 4:37).

That lesson only came about after much pain. He sang praises to the Most High God (Dan 4:2-3), yet was afraid of what might come (Dan 4:4-5). Daniel admonished Nebuchadnezzar (Dan 4:27), warning him that he shall "eat grass like an ox" (Dan 4:25).

However, after 12 months of considering the rebuke presumably, Nebuchadnezzar still boasted "Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?" (Dan 4:30).

APPLICATION: Nebuchadnezzar's punishment for pride (Dan 4:33) and subsequent restoration (Dan 4:34-36) points to the LORD God's determination to exert His authority over all creation. Do not claim the glory due to God for ourselves. Give Him the proper honour and praise.

默想：尼布甲尼撒费了很大的劲才学会“赞美、尊崇、荣耀天上的王，因为他所作的一切都正确，他所行的也都公平；行为骄傲的，他都能贬低”(但4:37)。

在经过了煎熬后他才得到教训。他唱歌赞美至高的神(但4:2-3)，却也害怕即将要来的 (但4:4-5)。但以理告诫尼布甲尼撒(但4:27)，警告他，他必“像牛一样吃草”(但4:25)。

然而，对于这斥责，尼布甲尼撒考虑了12个月，却还是夸口道“这大巴比伦城不是我用大能大力建造作我的京都，为显我威严的荣耀吗？”(但4:30)。

应用：尼布甲尼撒因骄傲被惩罚(但4:33)及后来被复兴(但4:34-36)都显示耶和华神决心向世人显现祂的权力。不要把该归于神的荣耀归给自己。给予祂所有的荣耀和赞美。
