What if rejecting the truth has consequences far beyond this life? In 2 Thessalonians 2, Paul reveals a frightening reality: those who refuse the truth can be deceived by lies—but those who believe the truth receive salvation, eternal comfort, and the glory of Christ.

Scripture Focus:
2 Thessalonians 2:9–11
[9] The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, [10] and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. [11] Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, (ESV)

(1) Rejecting the truth leads to deception and destruction (2 Thessalonians 2:1–12)

Paul warns that refusing to love and believe the truth does not leave us neutral. A person who rejects God's truth becomes increasingly vulnerable to deception.

The progression is sobering:
Reject the truth → believe the lie → become deceived → perish.

The issue is therefore not merely intellectual disagreement. Paul speaks of people who “refused to love the truth and so be saved” (v. 10). There is a heart issue involved: what do we love, and what are we willing to believe?

(2) Believing the truth leads to salvation and glory (2 Thessalonians 2:13–17)

The contrast is beautiful. Paul thanks God because the believers were chosen for salvation through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and belief in the truth.

The progression is:
Believe the truth → receive salvation → share in Christ's glory → receive eternal comfort and hope → be established in good work and word.

So Paul doesn't merely warn us about deception. He points us toward the good news: God has called us through the gospel so that we may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

*Am I truly loving and believing God’s truth, or am I allowing the world’s lies to influence my thinking and choices?
*Is there any area of my life where I am resisting or compromising the truth God has revealed to me?

There are eternal consequences to what we do with the truth. The world says, “Believe whatever feels right.” Paul says, “Love the truth.” Because ultimately, truth is not merely something we know—it is something we must receive, believe, and live by.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your truth that leads us to salvation. Give us hearts that love Your truth and wisdom to recognize and reject every lie and deception. Strengthen our faith, comfort our hearts, and establish us in every good work and word. May we remain faithful to Christ and share in His eternal glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

拒绝真理 → 相信谎言 → 受骗 → 灭亡。

因此，这不仅仅是理智上的分歧。保罗提到那些“不爱真理，以致不能得救”的人（第10节）。这涉及内心深处的抉择：我们爱什么，又愿意相信什么？

(2) 信靠真理带来救恩与荣耀（《帖撒罗尼迦后书》2:13–17）

这种对比十分美妙。保罗感谢神，因为信徒们借着圣灵的成圣工作以及对真理的信靠，被拣选得着救恩。

其发展进程是：
信靠真理 → 得着救恩 → 分享基督的荣耀 → 得着永恒的安慰与盼望 → 在善行和话语上得以坚固。

因此，保罗不仅是在警告我们提防欺骗，更指引我们走向这美好的福音：神藉着福音呼召我们，使我们得以得着我们主耶稣基督的荣耀。

关键要点
我们如何对待真理，将带来永恒的后果。世界说：“相信任何让你感觉对的事情。” 保罗说：“要爱真理。” 因为归根结底，真理不仅仅是我们所知道的——它是我们必须领受、相信并以此为生活准则的。

祷告

天父，感谢祢那引领我们得救的真理。求祢赐给我们爱祢真理的心，并赐给我们智慧，使我们能辨识并拒绝一切谎言与欺骗。求祢坚固我们的信心，安慰我们的心，并使我们在一切善行和言语上站立得稳。愿我们始终忠于基督，并分享祂永恒的荣耀。奉耶稣的名祈求，阿们。
