QT 25/04/2024 Thursday John 16. Prepare for trouble & joy.

Jesus continued to build up His followers' faith, who were going to face struggles ahead because of those who believe in killing the followers as "offering service to God" (John 16:2).

Jesus gave them ample notice and mental preparation (John 16:3-4). He promised them the Holy Spirit who would "take what is mine and declare it to you" (John 16:14). There would be confidence in the content of Christian teaching.

Furthermore, His followers' joy would be overwhelming and enduring (John 16:20-22). Their requests to the Father would be answered (John 16:23-24).

Even though Jesus informed them of His own departure, He assured them of the purpose of these teachings, "that in me you may have peace" (John 16:33).

MEMORY VERSE: In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world (John 16:33).

APPLICATION: Focus your minds on these wonderful promises and resources from Jesus so that your thought world would not be captured by wasteful processing of junk every waking moment.

耶稣继续建立祂的跟随者的信心，他们在前面的道路将面对挣扎因为那些想杀害他们的人认为“这样就是事奉神”(约16:2)。

耶稣给了他们足够的时间和心理准备(约16:3-4)。祂应许他们圣灵“要把从我那里所领受的告诉你们”(约16:14)。在基督教的教导内容上，他们会更加有信心。

更何况，祂的跟随者将会充满没有人能够夺去的喜乐(约16:20-22)。他们奉无论向父求什么，他必定赐给他们(约16:23-24)。

虽然耶稣已通知使徒祂将要离开，祂也使他们心里有平安，告诉他们这些教导的目的，“要使你们在我里面有平安”(约16:33)。

背诵经文：你在世上会有苦难。但你们放心，我已经胜了这世界。(约16:33)。

应用: 把你的心专注于耶稣这些美好的应许和资源上，以至于你的思想世界不会在你清醒的时候被垃圾占据。
