Do you know how truly blessed you are in Christ? Before God calls us to serve Him, He reminds us what He has already done for us—chosen, redeemed, and sealed by His Spirit. Ephesians 1 reveals the power that transforms how we live. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in every believer. Ephesians 1 reveals not only the blessings we have received in Christ, but the divine power given to help us obey, serve, and live for His glory. Let’s dive in.

The Christian life begins with a great work of God before it becomes a work of obedience by His people. Many people view Christianity primarily as a list of duties: pray more, read the Bible more, serve more, be more loving, and try harder to live a better life. While obedience is essential, the gospel reveals that obedience is not the foundation of our relationship with God; it is the response to what God has already accomplished for us.

Ephesians 1 is one of the most profound passages in Scripture because it opens the heavens and shows believers the magnificent work of the Triune God:
*The Father chose us before the foundation of the world.
*The Son redeemed us through His blood.
*The Holy Spirit sealed us as God’s possession.
*The risen Christ now reigns with authority and supplies power to His people.

The proper response to such overwhelming grace is worship, thanksgiving, faith, and a life devoted to God’s purposes. The question is not merely: “What has God done for me?” The deeper question is: “How should I live because of what God has done?”

(1) Blessed With Every Spiritual Blessing in Christ

Ephesians 1:3 (ESV) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.”

Paul begins with praise: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The word “blessed” describes God’s greatness and worthiness. God does not need anything from us, yet He graciously chooses to bless us with gifts beyond measure. Paul declares that believers have been blessed: “with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.” Notice that Paul does not say believers have received some blessings. He says every spiritual blessing.

This does not mean Christians will never experience hardship, suffering, or trials. Scripture is clear that believers will face difficulties in this present world. However, our deepest blessings are secure because they are found in Christ. The greatest blessing is not merely what God gives. The greatest blessing is God Himself. Everything we need for salvation, godliness, and eternal hope has been provided through Jesus Christ.

(2) Chosen by the Father: Loved Before the Foundation of the World

Ephesians 1:4 (ESV)
“Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.” Paul takes believers back before creation itself.

Before we had done anything good or bad, before we had achieved anything, before we could contribute anything, God had already purposed salvation through Christ. This truth humbles us. Salvation is not ultimately a story about human wisdom, strength, or effort.
It is a story about God’s grace. No believer can boast of his own merits. A person who truly understands God’s grace will desire to live a life pleasing to Him.

(3) Adopted Into God’s Family

Ephesians 1:5 (ESV) “He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will.”

One of the most beautiful truths in Ephesians 1 is that God does not merely rescue sinners; He adopts them. A judge may forgive a criminal, but adoption goes beyond forgiveness. Adoption brings a person into a family relationship. Through Christ, believers receive:
*a new identity,
*a new relationship with God,
*a new inheritance,
*a new purpose.

The believer is no longer defined by: past failures, worldly achievements, human approval,
personal status. The believer is defined by this: “I belong to God.” This truth changes how we approach life. We obey because we already have been accepted in Christ.

(4) Redeemed Through the Blood of Christ

Ephesians 1:7 (ESV) “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.” Redemption means freedom through a price being paid.

Human beings are enslaved by sin. Sin affects our thoughts, desires, relationships, and worship. We cannot rescue ourselves. But Christ came to redeem us.

(5) Sealed by the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 1:13–14 (ESV) “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.”

The Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee that believers belong to Him. A seal represents ownership and security. God places His mark upon His people. The Christian life is not lived by human strength alone. God does not simply give us commands and leave us powerless. He gives us His Spirit to unable us:

*resist sin,
*understand God’s Word,
*grow in holiness,
*serve the church,
*love others,
*persevere in faith.

The Christian life is not merely about trying harder. It is about depending more deeply on the Spirit who works within us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, We praise You for blessing us with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Thank You for choosing us, adopting us, redeeming us, forgiving us, and sealing us with Your Holy Spirit. Forgive us when we forget the greatness of Your grace and try to live by our own strength. Open the eyes of our hearts to know the hope of Your calling, the riches of our inheritance, and the immeasurable greatness of Your power toward us who believe. Teach us to respond with faith, thanksgiving, and obedience. Use us to serve Your church and glorify the name of Jesus Christ. May our lives reflect the truth that we belong completely to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(1) 在基督里蒙受一切属灵的福分

以弗所书 1:3  我们主耶稣基督的父　神是应当称颂的。他在基督里，曾经把天上各种属灵的福分赐给我们。

保罗以赞美开篇：愿颂赞归于我们主耶稣基督的父神。

“颂赞”或“称颂”一词彰显了神的伟大与配得。神并不需要我们给予任何东西，但他却恩典地选择赐给我们无以计数的恩赐。保罗宣告信徒已经蒙了祝福：“在天上各样属灵的福分。”请注意，保罗并没有说信徒只领受了某些祝福，而是说“各种属灵的福分”。

这并不意味着基督徒永远不会经历艰辛、苦难或试炼。圣经明确指出，信徒在这个现世中会面临各种困难。然而，我们最深厚的祝福是稳固的，因为它们源于基督。最大的祝福不仅仅在于上帝所赐予的，最大的祝福就是上帝自己。我们得救、敬虔和永恒盼望所需的一切，都已借着耶稣基督赐予了我们。

(2) 被父所拣选：在创世以前就被所爱

以弗所书 1:4就如创立世界以前，他在基督里拣选了我们，使我们因着爱，在他面前成为圣洁，没有瑕疵。

在我们行过任何善事或恶事之前，在我们成就任何事之前，在我们能作出任何贡献之前，神就已经定意要借着基督拯救我们。这一真理使我们谦卑。救恩归根结底并非关乎人的智慧、力量或努力。它完全是关于神恩典的故事。没有任何信徒能因自己的功劳而夸口。真正明白神恩典的人，会渴望过一种讨神喜悦的生活。

(3) 被收纳为神的儿女

以弗所书 1:5 他又按着自己旨意所喜悦的，预定我们借着耶稣基督得儿子的名分。

《以弗所书》第1章中最美好的真理之一是：上帝不仅拯救罪人，更收纳他们为儿女。法官或许会宽恕罪犯，但收养远不止于宽恕。收养使一个人进入家庭关系之中。借着基督，信徒获得了：
*新的身份，
*与上帝的新关系，
*新的产业，
*新的使命。

信徒不再由以下这些来定义：过去的失败、世俗的成就、人的认可、个人地位。信徒的定义是：“我属于神。”这一真理改变了我们面对生活的方式。我们之所以顺服，是因为我们在基督里已经蒙了接纳。

(4) 藉基督的宝血得赎

以弗所书 1:7我们在他爱子里，借着他的血蒙了救赎，过犯得到赦免，都是按着他丰盛的恩典。

人类被罪所奴役。罪影响着我们的思想、欲望、人际关系和敬拜。我们无法自救。但基督降临，正是为了救赎我们。

(5) 被圣灵所印记

以弗所书 1:13–14 你们既然听了真理的道，就是使你们得救的福音，也信了基督，就在他里面受了所应许的圣灵作为印记。

圣灵是上帝对信徒归属于祂的保证。印记象征着归属与保障。上帝将祂的印记印在祂的子民身上。基督徒的生命并非仅靠人的力量来维系。神并非仅仅给我们命令，却让我们束手无策。祂赐下圣灵，使我们能够：

*抵挡罪恶，
*明白神的话语，
*在圣洁中成长，
*服侍教会，
*爱人如己，
*在信仰中持守到底。

基督徒的生活并非仅仅是更加努力，而是更深地倚靠那位在我们里面运行的圣灵。

祷告

天父，我们赞美祢，因祢在基督里赐给我们一切属灵的福分。感谢祢拣选我们、收纳我们为儿女、救赎我们、赦免我们，并用祢的圣灵印证我们。当我们忘记祢恩典的浩大，试图凭自己的力量生活时，求祢赦免我们。求祢开启我们心灵的眼睛，使我们认识祢呼召的盼望、我们产业的丰富，以及祢向我们这些信的人所显出的、那无法测度的能力。求祢教导我们以信心、感恩和顺服来回应。求祢使用我们来服侍祢的教会，并荣耀耶稣基督的名。愿我们的生命彰显出我们完全属于祢这一真理。奉耶稣的名祈求，阿们。
