Mission trips should not just END with conversions after a gospel presentation. It should continue with the establishment of CHURCHES in their midst.
The establishment of a church starts with the appointment of leaders - "Appoint elders in every town, as I directed you" (Tit 1:5). Paul then lays down the criteria for elders:-
(1) He is above reproach, (2) the husband of one wife, (3) and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination, (4) not arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain,(5) hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined, (6) He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. (Titus 1:6-9 ESV)
To help Titus understand these qualities, Paul talks about the traits that hinder these leaders (Tit 1:10-16), e.g., "insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers."
REFLECTION (1): Tomorrow's leaders and pastors are chosen from today's followers who ALREADY POSSESS these good qualities in Tit 1:6-9, and DO NOT POSSESS the bad traits in Tit 1:10-16. Do you agree?
REFLECTION (2): Not all of us are church leaders. But since these 13 items are good qualities anyway, why not inculcate these into our lifestyle? Who knows, God will prompt current leaders and call you into tougher leadership positions one day?

当地教会的建立需要先委任领导者 - “并且照我所吩咐的，在各城设立长老”（多1：5）。保罗定了领袖（长老）的条件给他们：-
(1) 他是一个无可指摘的人，(2) 只作一个妻子的丈夫，(3) 儿女都信主，也没有人控告他们放荡或不受约束,(4) 不随便动怒、不好酒、不打人、不贪不义之财,(5)却要接待客旅、喜爱良善、自律、公正、圣洁、自制，(6) 坚守那合乎教义、可靠的真道，好使他能够用纯正的道理劝勉人，并且能够折服反对的人。（多1：6-9）
为了帮助提多了解这些特质，保罗谈到那可能阻碍领导者的特点（多1：10-16），例如，“不受约束、好讲空话和欺骗人的”。
反省（1）：明天的领导者和牧师是从今天已经拥有提多书1：6-9优秀品质的跟随者当中推选出来的。这些人也不该有多1:10-16负面的品格。你同意吗？
反省（2）：不是所有的人都会成为教会领袖。但提多书1：6-9提到多方面良好的素质，不妨把它们列为我们品格塑造的目标。谁知道，神有一天会感动现任的领袖，呼召你到更艰难的领导岗位事奉。
