Luke now contrasts the positive (and even surprising) responses of people in Luke 7 with that of Luke 6.
No such great faith as the centurion's had been found "even in Israel" (Luke 7:9). The centurion even said "I do not deserve to have you come under my roof." Even Jesus "was amazed" (Luke 7:9).
Citing Elijah, Jesus refused to perform miracles in His home town of Nazareth (Luke 4:23) but did so at Nain. He raised the dead son of the widow (Luke 7:11-17) in a manner which resembled Elijah's raising of the widow's dead son (1Kg 17:17-24);
REFLECTION (1): To which group do you belong? The centurion's kind of faith and humility?
Jesus' reply to "Are you the one...?" points back to His purpose statement in Luke 4:18-19. The blind sees, the lame walks, lepers are cured, the deaf hears, the dead is raised and "the poor have good news preached to them" (Luke 7:22).
REFLECTION (2): Are practical and life changing transformations also happening in your lives and the lives of those around you? Why? Or are our lives unresponsive to the gospel (Luke 7:31-35)?
Nevertheless, Jesus reminded them, "And blessed is the one who is not offended by me" (Luke 7:23).
APPLICATION: His message has the very real possibility to offend the unresponsive and hardened hearts. We should not offend for offense's sake. But Jesus' message is not to be watered down and all offences removed for fear that the true message itself is inherently "offensive" to the rebellious world.
REFLECTION (3): The HOST criticised Jesus (Luke 7:39). The UNINVITED guest honoured Jesus in repentance (Luke 7:38). Why were there these frequent REVERSALS?

路加现在正对比路加7章和路加6章人们正面的(甚至是让人惊奇的)回应。
1.“就算在以色列中”(路7:9)，也找不到一个像那百夫长那样信心这么大的。那百夫长还说：“因为你到舍下来，我实在不敢当。”就连耶稣也很“惊奇”(路7:9)。
2.耶稣引了以利亚的事迹，祂在自己的乡镇拿撒勒不愿意行神迹(路4:23),但却在拿因城行了。祂让寡妇死去的儿子活过来(路7:11-17)，就如同以利亚那时让寡妇死去的儿子复活一样(王上17:17-24);
反思(1):你是属于哪一组人的？是有着百夫长那样的信心和谦卑的人吗？
- 耶稣的回应“你是不是那位...?”指回祂在路4：18-19的使命宣言。瞎的可以看见，跛的可以走路，患痲风的得到洁净，聋的可以听见，死人复活，“穷人有福音听”(路7:22)。
反思(2):实际的和改变生命的变化是否正在你的生命中和周遭的人身上展开？为何？又或者我们的生命对福音毫无反应(路7:31-35)?
- 然而，耶稣提醒他们，“那不被我绊倒的，就有福了。”(路7:23)
应用：祂的信息是极有可能得罪那些毫无反应和心硬的人的。我们不该为了攻击别人的缘故而去得罪人。耶稣的信息不该被冲淡，也不该因为害怕真正的信息会“得罪”这叛逆的世界就除去所有尖锐的元素。
反思(3):主人批评耶稣(路7:39)。那不速之客则对耶稣恭恭敬敬，还悔改(路7:38)。这样的一个逆转为何频频出现？
