"What is truth?" (John 18:38) is a wrong question to ask. In the Gospel of John, truth is PERSONALISED.

Truth is not a cold fomula, not a set of rules made up of a combination of letters from the alphabet. Have you ever thought of truth as a PERSON? The Gospel of John has been proclaiming this:-

The Word that was with God from the beginning, "The Word became FLESH and made his dwelling AMONG US." (John 1:14)

The Word can be seen, "We have SEEN his glory, the glory of the One and ONLY, who came from the Father, full of grace and TRUTH" (John 1:14).

Jesus had been saying, "Truly, truly, I say to you" many times. These statements related to Jesus Himself (John 1:51, 3:3, 3:5, 5:19, 5:24, 5:25, 6:32 etc).

Pilate did not care about the truth. He concluded "I find no guilt in him," (John 18:38) i.e. Jesus, yet Pilate released Barabbas instead (John 18:40). But for those who CARE about truth, keep Jesus in mind.

Jesus answered, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

APPLICATION: Live by the revealed truth of God. But remember, the truth is a person - Jesus Christ. A person has mind, emotions and will. A person can interact with you. Don't reduce Him to some mere letters of the alphabet stringed together.

The CORRECT question is "Who is the truth?"

"谁“或”什么“？

“真理是什么?”(约18:38)这个问题问得不对。在约翰福音里，真理是拟人化的。

真理不是冷冷的方程式，不是一套由不同字母组合而成的律法。你是否想过，真理是一个人？约翰福音一再地宣告此事实:-

道从一开始就和神在一起，“道成了肉身，住在我们中间”(约1:14)。

这道是看得见的，“我们见过他的荣光，正是从父而来的独生子的荣光。满有恩典和真理”(约1:14)。

耶稣一直在说：“我实实在在告诉你们。”祂说了无数次。这些话是与耶稣祂本身有关联的(约1:51、3:3、3:5、5:19、5:25、6:23等)。

彼拉多一点也不在乎真理。他的结论是“我查不出他有什么罪”(约18:38)。“他”指的就是耶稣。然而，彼拉多却释放了巴拉巴(约18:40)。但至于那些在乎真理的，都会把耶稣放在心上。

耶稣回答：“我就是道路、真理、生命，如果不是借着我，没有人能到父那里去。”(约14:6)

应用：当活在神所揭露的真理中。但记住，真理是一个人---耶稣基督。人是有思想、情感和意志的。人可以和你互动。千万不要把祂视为是几个字母串成的名字。

我们应该这样问才对：“谁是真理？”
