MEDITATION: We have read much about the disaster that came upon the faithless people of God. The people should have their attention towards the LORD who brought them out of Egypt and planted them on the soil of Canaan—the Promised Land.
This episode was reenacted by the first eagle, who was the "great eagle with great wings and long pinions, rich in plumage of many colors" (See Ezek 17:3-6).
However, the faithless people had the propensity to forget the first eagle who had been their benefactor. Instead, the "vine" bent towards the second eagle who came out of nowhere and did not seem to be part of the history of the vine (Ezek 17:7-8).
REFLECTION: Let's be frank. Deep down in our hearts, who is really our benefactor? Are we easily bent towards any person or object, instead of thirsting after the LORD and His presence?
