The church at Troas was eager for the apostle Paul's teaching, knowing that he was about to leave the next day. The service on this "first day of the week" (Acts 20:7) was very long. But they grabbed the opportunity to hear the word of God.

Luke the doctor had "certified" the death of Eutychus (Acts 20:9) but the resurrection performed by Paul depicts him doing things PARALLEL to those of Elijah, Elisha, Peter (raising Dorcas) and Jesus (raising Jairus, young man from Nain and Lazarus). These miracles AUTHENTICATED Paul in his writing of the various Epistles in the New Testament.

Paul's long speech revealed his DEEP PASTORAL CONCERN and PERSEVERANCE in his shepherding of God's people at Troas and to the ends of the earth (He was still doing it in Acts 28 at the end).

Paul served the Lord with great HUMILITY and TEARS, despite plots against him (Acts 20:19) and persecutions (Acts 20:23). He taught them helpful things for their own growth (Acts 20:20) and the "whole counsel of God" (Acts 20:27), both publicly and privately (Acts 20:20).

APPLICATION: Be God's good shepherd and be willing to pay the same price as Paul. Cultivate a healthy environment to nurture people who could testify to the gospel of God's grace (Acts 20:24) to the ends of the earth (Acts 1-28).

特罗亚的教会非常热切和非常渴慕使徒保罗的教导，他们知道他隔日就要离开了。这“礼拜日”的聚会(徒20:7)很长。但他们却抓住机会听神的话语。

医生路加已“证实”犹推古(徒20:9)的死，但保罗叫他从死里复活，这事等同于他在行与以利亚、以利沙、彼得(使多加复活)和耶稣(使叶鲁的女儿、拿引城的年轻人和拉撒路)。
这些神迹为保罗在新约里的各种书信得到了认证。

保罗在冗长的讲话中透露了他对自己在特罗亚和世界的地极牧养神的子民的深切关心和牧养他们的恒心(他在使徒行传28章的结尾仍然如此)。

保罗以极大的谦卑事奉主，且常常流泪，尽管遭到犹太人谋害的试炼(徒20:19)和逼迫(徒20:23)。他教导他们有益的事，好叫他们能够成长(徒20:20),也因着“神的全部计划”，在众人面前也在家里(徒20:20)，毫无保留地传给他们(徒20:27)。

应用：成为神的好牧人并愿意和保罗一样付出代价。培养一个健康的环境以栽培那些肯为　神恩惠的福音作见证(徒20:24)，直到地极的人(徒1-28)。
