Yesterday, we mentioned the importance of (1) getting our identities right, (2) staying close to God's Book and (3) confession in getting an uplift in the spiritual and emotional realm.
Fourth, the ability to "cry out" to the LORD their God with praise was important (9:4). Crying out for help is a first step for recovery of many kinds. 面子 (face & reputation) is frequently an unnecessary hindrance. But if we are already among those who have confessed sins together (9:1,2,3 has multiple references to this), so what with 面子？ "Blessed be your glorious name" was the content of their cry (9:5).
Jesus similarly taught his disciples to pray similarly in Matthew 6:9–10 "Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. [10] Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. (ESV)", addressing the Father in heaven.
Fifth, in order to maintain our faith, we need to recall again who that God is,
Nehemiah 9:6 “You are the LORD, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you. (ESV)
APPLICATION: We do sing similar contents during worship services. Let "who God is" and what He has done also inform our minds during weekdays, midweeks. View God above, get uplifted.
