Segregation of troubling effects of sin
Week 13: 23/03/2023. Thu
Zechariah 5:8 And he said, “This is Wickedness.” And he thrust her back into the basket, and thrust down the leaden weight on its opening. (ESV)
A person has thoroughly and sincerely repented of sins. Would those sins still overpower that person even though sin itself could still not be totally eliminated from the rest of the world today?
Zechariah 5:5–9 depicted the effective containment of sins. In this vision, sin was still depicted as having the potential of resurfacing to trouble and haunt God's people—wickedness was still attempting to escape from the basket.
However, the angel thrust wickedness back into the basket to prevent the resurgence of sin's troubling and disastrous presence. In fact, the leaden weight was thrust down on its opening to further contain sin's resurgence.
God's people today should have no doubts that victory over sin was possible. Not only had the LORD's people fled from sinful behaviour, the LORD and His representatives would also do their utmost to contain and deny sin its decadent influence.
For this reason, we give thanks and praise God. Do that today. Be alert that the basket's cover continued to be sealed as tight as possible.
