Guaranteed Shouts of Joy—13
Week 12: 15/03/2023. Wed

Are your meeting God, talking with God times or worship experiences dead? No "kick"?

Zechariah 2:8–9 For thus said the LORD of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye: [9] “Behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me. (ESV)

Your worship experience should not be dead, when there is so much happening around you. People do come and go, e.g., when people migrate, die off one by one inevitably due to old age (even the very healthy), accident or sickness.

However, wherever you are, there is no escape that you worship the same God. How you envisage this God that you worship affects your mind and emotions, regardless of who is around you.

For Zechariah's audience, they must view themselves as "apple of his eye" (2:8), a treasured people. They need to know that God is doing something to reverse their national destiny (2:9). Justice would be meted out against those who persecuted God's people.

God's people must also keep close to their hearts the fact that God has said and demonstrated, "I will dwell in your midst" (2:10). Today, you experienced the ministry and work of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. How can there be no shouts of joy when you open your mouth to worship week after week?
