What should Peter and John, or you today, give when someone asks for alms, expecting coins or small notes? When believers give more than spare change, beggars become breakthroughs. Let apply transformation today!
(1) Give the Better Gift—Jesus Christ
The man who was lame (Acts 3:2) expected coins but received power. In Acts 3:6, Peter says: “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
Reflection: A man who had never walked sat at the temple gate every day, asking for money. When Peter and John met him, they didn’t give what he expected—they gave what he truly needed.
This moment flips our assumptions. The man asked for temporary help, but God gave him complete restoration. Peter’s words are striking: “What I have I give you.” He didn’t offer wealth, influence, or status—he offered Jesus.
And that’s the heart of the gospel:
- We may feel like we don’t have much to give
- But if we have Christ, we already have the greatest gift
Key Truth: The power wasn’t in Peter—it was in the name of Jesus Christ. God often works beyond what people ask for—not just meeting surface needs, but transforming lives at the root.
Application:
(a) Give what you have: You don’t need to be perfect or wealthy to impact others.
(b) Point to Jesus: Real change comes from Him, not from us.
(c) Expect God to move: Even in ordinary encounters, God can do extraordinary things
Ask yourself: Am I offering people what they want—or what they truly need?
(2) Trust God, Not Command Him!
When Peter speaks to the lame men, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk”, that moment isn’t treated as a magic formula to repeat, but as a model of acting under Jesus’ authority with faith.
Application for today:
(a) “In the name of Jesus” means acting under His authority, representing Jesus Christ, depending on His power, not your own and aligning with His will and character. So trust Jesus rather than using the phrase as a charm.
(b) We praying for healing, it is a faith-filled request rather than commanding God. God can heal, but He does not always choose to heal immediately. The latest time He would heal would be at the resurrection, at the latest (emphasised).
(c) Avoid treating the phrase like a spell or incantation. Do not assume automatic results if you “say it right”. Instead, focus on faith and humility, submission to God’s purposes and relate to God in a relationship and not a technique.
Prayer
Lord. Thank You that I don’t need to have everything to be used by You. Help me to boldly offer what I do have—the truth and love of Jesus. Open my eyes to see people the way You do, and give me faith to trust that You can work powerfully through simple acts of obedience. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

当有人向彼得和约翰，或是今天的你乞讨，期待得到硬币或小面额纸币时，你们该给予什么？当信徒给予的不仅是零钱时，乞丐便会成为突破。让我们今天就实践这种转变吧！
(1) 献上更美好的礼物——耶稣基督
那位瘸腿的人（使徒行传 3:2）本期待得到硬币，却领受了能力。在使徒行传 3:6 中，彼得说：“金银我都没有，只把我有的给你：我奉拿撒勒人耶稣基督的名，吩咐你行走！”
反思：一个从未行走过的人，每天坐在圣殿门口乞讨。当彼得和约翰遇到他时，他们没有给他所期待的——而是给了他真正需要的。
这一刻颠覆了我们的预设。那人求的是暂时的帮助，但神赐给他的是完全的恢复。彼得的话发人深省：“我有的，就给你。”他没有提供财富、权势或地位——他介绍了耶稣给他。
这正是福音的核心：
- 我们或许觉得自己没什么可给予的
- 但若我们拥有基督，便已拥有最伟大的礼物
关键真理：能力不在彼得身上——而在耶稣基督的名里。神常行出超乎人所求所想的事——不仅满足表面的需要，更从根源上改变生命。
应用：
(a) 尽己所能：你不必完美或富有，也能影响他人。
(b) 指向耶稣：真正的改变源于祂，而非我们。
(c) 期待神动工：即使在平凡的相遇中，神也能成就非凡之事。
自问：我给人的是他们想要的，还是他们真正需要的？
(2) 信靠神，而非命令祂！
当彼得对那两个瘸子说：“奉拿撒勒人耶稣的名，起来行走”时，那一刻并非被视为可以重复的咒语，而是凭着信心在耶稣权柄下行事的典范。
今日应用：
(a) “奉耶稣的名”意味着在祂的权柄下行事，代表耶稣基督，倚靠祂的能力而非自己的能力，并与祂的旨意和品格保持一致。所以要信靠耶稣，而非将这句话当作咒语来使用。
(b) 我们为医治祷告，这是一种充满信心的祈求，而非命令神。神能医治，但他并不总是选择立即医治。最迟的医治时间，就是复活之时（强调）。
(c) 切勿将这句话当作咒语或念咒。不要以为只要“说对了”就会自动得着结果 。相反，要专注于信心与谦卑，顺服神的旨意，并以一种关系而非技巧的方式与神相交。
祷告
主啊，感谢祢，我无需拥有一切，也能被祢使用。求祢帮助我勇敢地献上我所拥有的——耶稣的真理与爱。求祢开启我的眼睛，让我能像祢一样看待他人，并赐给我信心，相信祢能借着简单的顺服之举大有能力地行事。奉耶稣的名求。阿们。
