1Tim 6:1-2: Lastly, Paul urged that subordinates should respect their superiors in the market place, especially if they were believers. Do have good work attitude and value-add to your employers' business.
REFLECTION (1): Am I always thinking of how to serve others better?
1Tim 6:3-5: Paul pinpointed some unhealthy attitudes to Timothy: (a) Those who disregarded sound instruction and godly teaching, 6:3; (b) Those who had "an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words", 6:4; and (c) Those who thought that godliness was a means to financial gain, 6:5.
REFLECTION (2): Are there "envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction" (1Tim 6:4) in my life?
1Tim 6:6-16: Paul described the true "great gain"—"godliness with contentment". He set the LOWEST denominator for contentment—"have food and clothing" (6:6). This attitude would avoid many troubles (6:9-10). Rather, the pursuit of "righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness" (6:11) must continue until Christ returns.
1Tim 6:17-21: Put not trust in wealth nor be arrogant about it. Rather, put our hopes in God! Avoid also "irreverent babble" and false knowledge.
http://m.bbintl.org/bible/ncv/1Ti/6/
