Adultery, especially the emotional kind, is as killing for a marriage (or even more so) as the physical kind. However, it was a surprise that a few pax got the definition of physical adultery wrong, and even more do not take precautions against emotional adultery. No one is exempt from falling into these dangers, whether physical or emotional.

Today, let's begin with OT and NT definitions. Adultery is a breach of the unity of marriage. The word adultery describes any act of sexual intercourse between a married woman and a man other than her husband, and all sexual intercourse involving a married man and a woman other than his wife.

Adultery is a "killer", and the prohibition was written into the heart of the Old Testament law, prophetic literature and Hebrew wisdom literature (Exodus 20:14, "You shall not commit adultery"; Deuteronomy 5:18, "And you shall not commit adultery").

However, living in New Testament times, we see Jesus sharpening this OT definition to include the thought life. A person might be tempted by adultery of whatever kind and reject the act and thought at first hand. However, if that man continues with fantasies and lust with his mind, Jesus expanded this definition to include his thought world and emotional world activities—they fall under the prohibition against "adultery".

Matthew 5:27–28 [27] “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ [28] But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (ESV)

Don't be killed by this killer: Avoid Adultery. Reject all temptations at the outset.
