National Day and national strength (part 2)

A nation will be like the unlikely situation when a nation claims that there are no "gods", the nation will likely follow after its leaders. Indeed, we become who we worship, be it knowingly, or unknowingly. In addition, humans do claim to possess the powers of gods, once in a while in human history, while perhaps not admitting doing the same.
Many in different parts of the world might shudder in horror if they take a moment to just visualise how a nation is going to change to become just like its leader(s).
Three thousand five hundred years ago, Moses in the plains of Moab precisely exhorted a people about to form a nation on a piece of land next to the Mediterranean that continuing "long in his kingdom, he and his children, in Israel" required behaviour of a certain kind,
Deuteronomy 17:19–20 And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them, [20] that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, either to the right hand or to the left, so that he may continue long in his kingdom, he and his children, in Israel. (ESV)
REFLECTION: Would you strengthen the nation by reading and doing the "words of this law" in its spirit in the context and place that God had placed you in? And pray for God's wisdom to prompt to heart when applying God's laws in difficult and challenging situations?
