Week 11: 11/03/2023. Sat

Zechariah 1:11 And they answered the angel of the LORD who was standing among the myrtle trees, and said, ‘We have patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth remains at rest.’ (ESV)

Zechariah's vision, in the night, gave him the message of hope. This hope came after their return to the LORD (1:6), where their "ways and deeds" have been "dealt with".

The invisibleness of help can be seen here: (1) it came in the form of power horseman, horses and an angel—supernatural beings in the vision, (2) it was "in the night"—where night visions are usually degraded, especially to finite human beings, (3) the horseman was hiding/standing among the myrtle trees—a camouflage, be it intended or not.

The invisible helpers' work seemed unknown to us human beings—they had been patrolling the earth as instructed by the LORD (1:10). Their work also seemed quick, more powerful than us human beings—they had already patrolled the earth quickly and reported that "all the earth remains at rest" (1:11).

More importantly, their help came via a plea by the angel of the LORD for mercy on Jerusalem and cities of Judah, to immediately cease the 70 years of exile, punishment and anger.

Zechariah 1:12 Then the angel of the LORD said, ‘O LORD of hosts, how long will you have no mercy on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, against which you have been angry these seventy years?’ (ESV)

When we face trouble, we don't assume that help is not on the way. God might be working in invisible ways using invisible things/beings to prod you towards holiness and love for the LORD.
