QT 11/04/2024 Thursday READ John 6. King by force? Selfish crowd!

John 6 recorded more signs of Jesus: (1) the feeding of the 5000 in John 6:1-14, (2) walking on water against gravity in John 6:16-20 and (3) the boat movement miracle in John 6:21.
However, Jesus faced more opposition to His messages. The large crowd followed Jesus not because of who He is, but what He could do to satisfy their hunger (John 6:26).
APPLICATION: Bodily health is important, but do not neglect to believe in Jesus, because "whoever believes has eternal life (John 6:47). Jesus can supply all our need.
Jesus' kingship was not based on the economic power of being able to provide bread abundantly and cheaply. The crowd's "public opinion" was clear on this, "They were about to come and take him by force to MAKE HIM KING" (John 6:15).
REFLECTION: Jesus did not pander to "public opinion" because it contradicted the Father's will, plan or timing. How about you?
The crowd connected the provision of manna to Moses (the wrong person) when they should have credited the Father in heaven (John 6:30-31). They took pride in the manna, when they should have grabbed the true bread: "For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world" (John 6:33).
REFLECTION: "Many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him" (John 6:66) because of their disagreement with what Jesus really stood for. How about you?
MEMORY VERSE: Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, [69] and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:68-69)

强迫他作王？自私的人群
约翰6章记载了更多耶稣的神迹:(1)约6:1-14里，耶稣喂饱了5000人，(2)约6:16-20里，祂逆着地心引力在水上行走，和(3)约6:21里，船航行的神迹。
然而， 耶稣的信息遭到更强烈的抵抗。那群众跟随耶稣，不是因为祂是谁，而是祂能够满足他们的饥饿(约6:26)。
应用：身体的健康固然重要，但千万不要忽略了相信主耶稣，因为“信的人有永生”(约6:47)。耶稣能够满足我们一切所需。
耶稣的王权不是来自于经济能力、不是因为祂能够丰富地供应便宜的饼。群众在这事上的“共同意见”是很清楚的，“群众要来强迫他作王”(约6:15)。
反思:耶稣并没有迎合“群众的意见”因为那会抵触父的旨意、计划或时间。你呢？
众人把吗哪的供应联到摩西那里去(错的对象)，其实他们应该感恩于天上的父(约6:30-31)。他们为得着吗哪而沾沾自喜，但他们其实应该抓住那真正的食物:“因为 神的食物就是从天上降下来，把生命赐给世人的那一位。”(约6:33)。
反思:“他的门徒中有许多人退去了，不再与他同行”(约6:66)因为他们在耶稣是谁这件事上无法认同。你呢?
背诵经文：西门．彼得回答：“主啊，你有永生之道，我们还跟从谁呢？[69]我们已经相信，并且知道你是 神的圣者。”(约6:68-69)
